T.R. River of Doubt paper

Hunter Michel Francis

On a tragic day, after T.R. lost the presidential election he had been invited to Brazil to take place in an exploration of a geographical mystery called the river of doubt. When he arrived, the ex-president and his friends, as well as his son Kermit, set off on the river. While in the canoe, they faced many obstacles and challenges such as: Poisonous snakes, piranhas, heavy rapids, and horrendous attacks from Indians. While floating through their path many of the explorers were bitten by mosquito's, a lot of which were carrying the Malaria virus. This caused horrible illness in the adventurers path, and slowed them down horribly. the rapids sure weren’t helping the situation, luckily Kermit (T.R.s Son) knew a well majority about navigation, so he helped the exploration go by much quicker and safer then expected. A ways down the river they decided to do some research in the jungle surrounding the river. After settling, all the man declared every man for himself, while Kermit and a man named George Cherrie helped care for Theodore while he was ill. During their exploration of the wilderness T.R. fell onto a rock and gashed his leg, leaving him with a handicap to walk. He then went to South America, and stayed in a secluded home in Ostermier bay in New York fighting off depression and despair from his permanent diseases that made him bed-ridden.
